Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases of products and services from McMichaels Ltd through our website, by telephone or, where applicable, through other distance-selling methods.

Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. They explain who we are, how orders are accepted, how we provide products and services, and your rights if you wish to cancel an order or if there is a problem with your purchase.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

1. About Us

This website is operated by:

McMichaels Ltd
1–9 Mill Street
Alloa
Clackmannanshire
FK10 1DT

Company Number: SC870472
VAT Number: GB516488763

Website: www.mcmichaels.co.uk

Throughout these terms, “McMichaels”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to McMichaels Ltd.

2. Who These Terms Apply To

These terms apply to consumers purchasing products or services from us.

Our website is primarily intended for customers in the United Kingdom. Delivery, installation and other services may only be available within specified geographical areas.

Availability of a particular service will normally be shown on our website or confirmed when your order is processed.

3. Products

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, photographs, prices and other information displayed on our website are accurate.

Product images are for illustrative purposes and colours and appearance may vary slightly from those shown on screen.

Manufacturers may occasionally alter specifications, features, packaging or finishes without notice. Where a change materially affects the product you have ordered, we will contact you where reasonably practicable.

Product dimensions should be checked before ordering, particularly where an appliance or television must fit within a specific space.

You are responsible for ensuring that the product is suitable for your requirements unless we have specifically advised you otherwise based upon information you have provided to us.

4. Product Availability

All products are subject to availability.

Stock information and estimated availability displayed on our website are provided in good faith but may change before an order is processed.

Some products may be available from our own stock while others may need to be ordered from a manufacturer, distributor or supplier.

Where a product is described as being available to order, any lead time shown is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date unless we expressly confirm otherwise.

If a product becomes unavailable after you have placed an order, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible. We may offer an alternative product or a revised delivery estimate.

You are not required to accept an alternative. If we cannot supply the product and you do not wish to accept an alternative or revised timescale, we will refund any amount you have paid for the unavailable product.

5. Placing an Order

You may place an order using the ordering process on our website.

After placing an online order, you will normally receive an automated email acknowledging that we have received your order.

This acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

We may need to confirm stock availability, pricing, delivery availability or other information before accepting an order.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order before acceptance, including where:

  • a product is unavailable;

  • we cannot obtain authorisation for payment;

  • we cannot deliver to the address supplied;

  • an obvious pricing or product-description error has occurred;

  • we reasonably suspect fraud or unauthorised use of a payment method; or

  • an order cannot reasonably be fulfilled.

If we decline an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the relevant payment.

6. Formation of the Contract

A contract between you and McMichaels Ltd is formed when we accept your order.

Acceptance will normally take place when we confirm that your order has been accepted and/or arrange the supply or delivery of the goods.

Where an order contains several products, we may accept and supply those products separately.

7. Prices

Prices displayed on our website are in Pounds Sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate unless stated otherwise.

Delivery, installation, recycling, removal and other optional services are not included in the product price unless expressly stated.

Any applicable additional charges will be shown during the ordering process or agreed with you before the relevant service is provided.

Prices may change at any time, but price changes will not normally affect orders we have already accepted.

8. Pricing Errors

We make reasonable efforts to ensure prices are correct.

Occasionally, a product may be incorrectly priced due to human or technical error.

If we discover an obvious pricing error before supplying the product, we may contact you to give you the option of purchasing the product at the correct price or cancelling the order.

We are not obliged to supply a product at an obviously incorrect price where the error could reasonably have been recognised as a pricing mistake.

If an order is cancelled because of a pricing error, any payment already made for the affected product will be refunded.

9. Payment

Payment must be made in Pounds Sterling using one of the payment methods offered by us.

Payment may be taken when you place your order or when your order is processed.

You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.

10. Delivery

Delivery options, charges and estimated timescales will be displayed during the ordering process where applicable.

Delivery times depend upon product availability, delivery location and the delivery service selected.

Any delivery date or timescale provided before we expressly confirm it should be treated as an estimate.

Where we arrange a specific delivery date with you, you should ensure that an adult is available at the delivery address to receive the goods.

You are responsible for ensuring that there is reasonable and safe access to the property and to the intended delivery location.

Please tell us before delivery about any circumstances that may affect access, including restricted parking, stairs, narrow doorways, difficult access or other obstacles.

If we are unable to complete a delivery because nobody is available to receive the goods, because access is unsafe or unreasonable, or because relevant access information was not provided to us, we may charge a reasonable amount for redelivery.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights where we fail to deliver goods within a legally required or specifically agreed timescale.

11. Checking Access and Measurements

For larger products, including televisions and domestic appliances, you should ensure that the product will fit through doorways, hallways, stairways and other access points and will fit in its intended location.

Product dimensions are normally available on our website or from the manufacturer.

If we cannot safely deliver or install a product because of inadequate access or because the product does not fit, we may be unable to complete the delivery or installation and reasonable additional delivery, collection or attendance charges may apply.

12. Click & Collect

Click & Collect may be available for selected products and locations.

We will contact you when your order is ready for collection.

Please do not travel to the store to collect your order until you have received confirmation that it is ready.

We may ask you to provide suitable identification and/or evidence of your order before releasing goods.

This may include photographic identification, your order confirmation or information relating to the payment method used.

If somebody else is collecting an order on your behalf, please contact us in advance where requested so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Orders will normally be held for a reasonable period after we notify you that they are ready. If an order is not collected, we may contact you and, where appropriate, cancel and refund the order.

13. Installation and Other Services

We offer installation and related services for selected products and within specified geographical areas.

The precise service included will depend upon the installation or service option purchased. Details of our standard installation services are provided on our website and/or during the ordering process.

Our standard installation services assume that the property and existing connections are suitable, safe, accessible and compliant with applicable requirements.

Unless specifically included in the service purchased, installation does not normally include building work, significant alterations to furniture or cabinets, new electrical wiring, relocating or installing electrical sockets, substantial plumbing alterations, aerial installation or other specialist works.

Additional work may be available at an additional charge where it can be carried out safely and appropriately.

If our installers discover that an installation cannot safely or reasonably be completed, they may refuse to carry out all or part of the installation.

We will explain the reason where reasonably practicable and discuss available options with you.

Any additional work and associated charge should be agreed with you before that additional work is carried out.

14. Customer-Supplied Equipment and Existing Installations

Where we connect a new product to existing equipment, plumbing, electrical supplies, aerial systems, furniture, wall brackets or other customer-owned items, those existing items must be safe and suitable for the intended use.

We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or defects that become apparent during delivery or installation unless caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

Our installers may refuse to connect equipment to an installation or connection that they reasonably believe to be unsafe or unsuitable.

15. Removal and Recycling

Where you purchase an uplift, removal or recycling service, the item to be removed must normally be disconnected and reasonably accessible unless disconnection is specifically included in the service purchased.

The item being removed should be of the type and quantity agreed when the service was ordered.

Additional items may incur an additional charge or may be refused.

16. Changing or Cancelling a Delivery

If you need to change or cancel an arranged delivery, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where possible, we ask that changes are made by 12 noon on the working day before the scheduled delivery.

This operational deadline does not remove or restrict any statutory cancellation rights you may have.

If a delivery has already been dispatched or our delivery team has attended the property, reasonable additional delivery or collection charges may apply where permitted by law.

17. Your Right to Cancel an Online or Distance Order

If you are a consumer and purchase goods online, by telephone or through another qualifying distance contract, you will normally have a legal right to change your mind.

For most goods, the cancellation period expires 14 days after the day on which you, or a person nominated by you other than the carrier, takes physical possession of the goods.

Where a single order contains multiple goods delivered on different days, the cancellation period will normally expire 14 days after the day on which you receive the last of those goods.

Certain contracts and products may be excluded from statutory cancellation rights where legislation provides an exemption.

These cancellation rights are separate from your rights where goods are faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise fail to conform to the contract.

18. How to Cancel

To exercise your statutory right to cancel, you must clearly inform us of your decision before the cancellation period expires.

You can contact McMichaels Ltd using the contact details shown on our website.

You do not need to provide a reason for cancelling.

If goods have already been delivered, we will discuss how they should be returned or collected.

19. Returning Unwanted Goods

If you cancel an eligible distance contract after receiving the goods, you must return the goods to us within the period required by law.

Unless we have agreed otherwise, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning unwanted goods.

For large products such as televisions and domestic appliances that cannot reasonably be returned by normal post, we may offer a collection service.

Where you choose to use our collection service, we may charge a reasonable collection fee. We will tell you the applicable charge before arranging collection.

This does not apply where goods are being returned because they are faulty and we are legally responsible for the cost of return.

20. Looking After Goods You May Return

You are entitled to inspect goods in a way that would reasonably be permitted in a shop in order to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.

You should take reasonable care of goods while they are in your possession.

If you handle goods beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning and this reduces their value, we may be entitled to make an appropriate deduction from your refund, up to the amount permitted by law.

For example, damage, excessive use, cosmetic deterioration or missing parts or accessories may reduce the value of returned goods.

Any deduction will reflect the actual reduction in value rather than being an automatic restocking charge.

21. Packaging

We recommend retaining the original packaging until you are satisfied that you intend to keep the product.

Having discarded or damaged the original packaging does not, by itself, remove a statutory right to cancel an eligible distance contract.

However, you are responsible for taking reasonable care of goods and for returning them safely.

Where missing or damaged packaging results in an actual reduction in the value of the goods, this may be taken into account when assessing any legally permitted deduction from a refund.

This is particularly relevant to large, fragile or high-value products such as televisions, where appropriate packaging may be important for safe transportation.

22. Refunds Following Cancellation

Where you validly cancel an eligible distance contract, we will refund payments due to you in accordance with applicable consumer law.

This will normally include the price paid for the goods and the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option, where applicable.

If you selected a more expensive delivery service, such as an express or premium delivery option, we are not required to refund the additional amount above our standard delivery charge.

Where you are responsible for returning goods, we may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back or you provide evidence that you have returned them, whichever occurs first.

Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction unless otherwise agreed.

Refunds will be made within the timescales required by law.

23. Installation and Services During the Cancellation Period

Installation, connection, removal and similar services are separate from your statutory right to cancel eligible goods.

Where you ask us to begin providing a service during a statutory cancellation period, we may ask you to expressly request that the service starts before the cancellation period has ended.

If you subsequently cancel the service contract after performance has begun following such a request, you may be required to pay a reasonable amount for the service supplied up to the point at which you cancel, where permitted by law.

Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and the legally required acknowledgement has been provided, your statutory right to cancel that service may end once the service has been fully performed.

This means that cancelling or returning a product does not necessarily entitle you to a refund of an installation or other service that has already been properly performed where the applicable legal requirements have been satisfied.

24. Removal of Installed Goods Following Cancellation

If you exercise a statutory right to cancel goods that have already been installed, please contact us before attempting to remove or return them.

Depending upon the product and installation, specialist removal may be advisable to avoid damage to the product or property.

Where the goods are not faulty and you ask McMichaels to return to your property to disconnect, uninstall, remove or collect them, reasonable charges may apply for services that you are legally responsible for.

We will explain any applicable charges before arranging the work.

Nothing in this section requires you to pay costs that legislation requires us to bear.

25. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Goods

Your statutory rights are not affected by these Terms & Conditions.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their intended purpose where applicable and as described.

If goods do not meet these requirements, you may have legal rights to reject them, have them repaired or replaced, receive a price reduction or receive a refund, depending upon the circumstances and how long you have had the goods.

Consumers generally have a 30-day short-term right to reject goods that do not conform to the contract, subject to the provisions of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

After the short-term right to reject has expired, you may normally be entitled to request a repair or replacement where appropriate.

Further remedies may be available if repair or replacement is unsuccessful, impossible or cannot be provided within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you believe there is a problem with a product.

We may ask you to provide information about the fault and may carry out reasonable troubleshooting or inspection to establish the nature of the problem.

26. Costs of Returning Faulty Goods

Where goods are validly rejected because they are faulty or otherwise fail to conform to the contract, we will bear reasonable return or collection costs where required by law.

For large items, we may arrange collection from you.

Please contact us before arranging your own return of a large product so that we can agree the appropriate method.

27. Manufacturer Guarantees

Some products include a manufacturer's guarantee or warranty.

Any manufacturer's guarantee is provided in addition to your statutory consumer rights and does not replace or restrict those rights.

The duration and conditions of manufacturer guarantees vary by product and manufacturer.

28. Our Responsibility for Services

Services provided by McMichaels will be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

If we fail to provide a service with reasonable care and skill, you may have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right in appropriate circumstances to require repeat performance or a price reduction.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

29. Damage During Delivery or Installation

We will take reasonable care when delivering and installing products.

If our employees or contractors cause damage to your property through a failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, please tell us as soon as reasonably possible.

We are not responsible for damage resulting from pre-existing defects, unsafe installations, unsuitable structures or circumstances that could not reasonably have been identified before work began, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

30. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We are not responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations where this results from circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Examples may include severe weather, road closures, transport disruption, supplier disruption, industrial action, utility failures or other exceptional events.

Where such an event affects your order, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact and will contact you where appropriate.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

31. Personal Information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

In fulfilling your order, we may need to share relevant information with manufacturers, suppliers, delivery providers, service providers, payment processors and other organisations involved in providing your products or services.

McMichaels Ltd is a member of Combined Independent (Holdings) Ltd (CIH), and we trade as a Euronics retailer. Information may be shared with CIH and relevant service providers where necessary and as described in our Privacy Policy.

Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full information about how we collect, use and protect personal information.

32. Complaints

We aim to resolve problems fairly and promptly.

If you are unhappy with a product or service, please contact us using the contact details provided on our website so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.

Making a complaint does not affect your statutory rights.

33. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The terms that apply to your order will normally be those in force when your contract with us is formed.

Changes made after that date will not retrospectively alter your contract unless required by law or agreed with you.

34. Severability

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

35. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Scotland.

If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the law of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.

Nothing in these terms prevents you from exercising any rights you have to bring proceedings in a court with jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.
